Latest CHM download - 'ClickStartXSharp'

Post by Phil Hepburn »

Hi all Forum guys,

I have made available the latest 'ClickStartXSharp' eNotes CHM file, from my OneDrive folder.

https://1drv.ms/f/s!AiCBl-gBWjY9hcxoOaI3domPJifO4g

As promised it now has all the details about using .NET to create and use a '3-D' array with index ranges -3 through 0 to +3.

It also uses a Generic class for the 3D array. So you can start learning Generics!

Although its a small app it has some useful syntax and code solutions.

Here is a small image of the relevant part of the contents window :-

Note that the survey results are 13,000 randomly generated questionnaire values.

I am continuing to add more X# code and explanation, and syntax samples, to the CHM folder structure as I go about my daily research for Cologne 2018.

However, it is an enormous task which requires doing ;-0)

Best regards to one and all,
Phil.

Hi Wolfgang and all,

I realise that new guys looking into the folders of the current 'ClickStartXSharp' eNotes will see a lot of vacant and empty folders / entries, and possibly worry ;-0)

However, the good news is that I have actually covered many more topics in X#, only the content was placed by me into the 'Appendix X' of the eNotes on LINQ for Cologne 2017, I was new to X# at the time and was just recording my successes in any order. See image below :-

If we partly expand this we see much more X# 'stuff', and folders and subfolders were only placed in these eNotes when I had working details and samples in front of me etc..

Here is a part expanded view of contents in the LING publication :-

I need time to transfer the related information into the "XSharp" eVolume. I will get around to it sometime soonish. But for now I am working on the Cologne 2018 support material.

Here is a further expanded view of what X# stuff already exists, but not yet in XSharp of 'ClickStart' :-

Hope this interests a few of you guys.
Best wishes,

Phil,
plus, IMO worth to mention: after downloading your file and viewing, you see NOTHING of the content - until you realize, that windows blocks silently the access if you don't explicitely allow in properties ;)

Thanks Karl,

I thought there was a catch somewhere - but when I asked guys recently they said they got the CHM files and they were OK.

Will others be able to follow what you said - and get Contents to show ?

Cheers,
Phil.

P.S. why is everything so complicated these days ?

Hi Phil,

this is a security issue. Someone could put malware into a CHM file.

If you confirm that this file is safe, contents are shown. You need to do this in the Windows Explorer (right click on the file).

Wolfgang,
one wonders...
Meanwhile i found chm to be a bunch of html with a hyperlink list, but, AFAIK, no scripting, so - what may a chm do, what, e.g., a jpg cannot?
Can't help to feel a bit supicious, that the "security problem" in this special case was a means to make folks swallow the next incarnation of "documentary tooling" ;)

Hi Karl,

the CHM seems to use the Internet Explorer, so this could be a risk, And I don't know if it is not possible to embed a sort of executable like a Javascript or similar into a CHM.

Okay Karl and Wolfgang,

What should I do to make my CHMs easily useable by others ?

Are you suggesting that I use IE to load-up and change the property every time I publish another version of a ClickStart ? I have MANY !! :-0(

Helpful and possible to achieve suggestions PLEASE  :pinch: ;)

Phil.

Okay Karl and Wolfgang,

I have just uploaded version 76 of the XSharp eNotes as a RAR file.

Can you see if this works easier at your end, or do you still need to change property settings after unzipping ?

Fingers crossed.
