Hello,
do you have requested access to the beta group? This forum is a private only and not visibile to others.

Hi,
if you are interested to beta test the SQL RDD, please mail Robert as stated in the announcement.
Having access only the forum without having access to the software itself makes no sense.

The problem is I can't commit to properly beta testing with the beta process' s inherent documentation, test cases etc. etc.

I DO need to be able to estimate the amount of effort the implementation will take in my application and even how it will be implemented - need to get back to a client using the application ASAP for budget reasons I was hoping to get that out of what I would read on the forum.

Ideally, I would like a document describing the product and its implementation. For a decade or more, I used OTC Mediator to adapt the Harbour/Clipper version of the application to Oracle. Mediator is an incredibly reliable product at next to no cost, but still requires a number of additional procs and triggers to be written.

Is there a document available??

Thanks.

Hi Roland,
the largest advantage fo beta testing, specially in this context, is that you have some possibility to have issues in your environment fixed, you may have some influence on the development itself and you have a direct contact to the developer.

Thanks Wolfgang,

I have 40+ years in system development - although 20 were mostly paper pushing :D - and am quite familiar with the development process. It is why I'm suggesting I can't commit to properly contributing toward a formal beta test. If we're less format about it, then I will gladly participate.

Cheers.

Hi Roland,
I don't think you should consider that as a "formal beta test". All you have to do is to ask Robert to participate, and then you will have access to the forum and the download area. Then you spend some time trying to use the software in your environment, ask if you have questions and write down your experiences.
I have participated in several beta tests, but all of them were very different from what is done here (in most beta programs I was part of I was not allowed to even say that I was a member of the group).
