Can we convert a VO 2.7a app using VOExporter ?

Post by OhioJoe »

Without converting first to VO 2.8 ?

Just heard about this. Apparently they tried to convert to VO 2.8 couple of years ago without immediate success. But they do want to move into X#, hopefully without the extra step. Can it be done? Thanks in advance for all the wisdom.

Hi Joe,
yes, that is possible, but it would need some extra work adjusting the code, specially if they were not able to move their code to VO 2.8.
Since the XPorter/VO reads AEF files, it should even be possible to move over applications from VO 2.5.

Thank you, Wolfgang. That makes sense. It's probably easier to first convert to VO 2.8 because there's still a hill to climb in completing the full conversion to XSharp. Better to follow Robert's advice and do as much as possible on the VO side.

Hi Joe,
if the VO application is in active development or active maintenance, then doing the changes on the VO side is the only possibility.
But I would not loose time moving the application to VO 2.8, but instead do all corrections on the VO side and use the clipboard functionality of the XPorter/VO to xport after every few changes on the VO side.
