XS2PostgreSQL, any news?

Post by rjpajaron »

Hello,

My schedule is now lining up. renewing FOX in a week.

I already email Robert, some questions that I am felt ashamed to ask in public. Waiting for his reply.

Think out loud my next 6 months, one of which is migration from ADS to PostgreSQL with minimal to not many code changes up to complete re-write. Well, I want to evaluate and get prepared accordingly. I read the XS2Ado, wish to see it ported using ADO.NET that would let me use our Devart DotConnect for PostgreSQL or maybe with npgsql which I do not mind.

Thanks a lot guys.

XS2PostgreSQL, any news?

Hi Rene,

in a few months we will see a SQL based RDD, I think.
Something like this has to be written for the VFP people.
So I think we will both see a DBFCDX RDD that understands SQL statements, and a SQL RDD than can replace the DBFCDX RDD.
But I suspect that will be a work-in-progress for several years, and I don't know how compatible such an RDD can be to the DBFCDX or AXDBFCDX RDD - the backends are too different. Therefore I don't think this can be a complete drop-in replacement.
Anyway: there is a lot to do for the development team, and maybe some help from us is also needed.
