New to X#? There are a lot of Pearls

Post by lumberjack »

Hi all,
Phil Hepburn as a retired teacher is currently enjoying the [warm] weather in Wales way too much. If you new to X#, take some time to scroll through the Pearls forum, there are zillions (ok, not really but it feels that way) of info bits shared and created by Phil. I think it is time that we recall his retirement and extended vacation.

New to X#? There are a lot of Pearls

Post by wriedmann »

Hi Johan,
Phil is retired, so he can do what he likes. He has done a lot for the Vulcan and X# community, and we don't have the right to recall anything.
If he likes to do something, he will do it... I have already tried to convince him to write something, but it seems woodworking is attracting him much more than writing articles about X#.

Therefore, we have to fill this gap ourselves, and I will try to restart my work on the wiki (had to suspend it because of some very heavy projects done in VO and X#). And yes, I have also to restart my work on the X# Tools library.

Wriedmann - What is " X# Tools library"? I man, I can sort of guess, but I figure it could be a good study for me. Is it somewhere that can be download here, or (even better, perhaps) from a GitHub repo?

Hi Matt,

the X# Tools library currently is more a project than finished code. You can read here how it started:
https://www.xsharp.eu/forum/suggestions ... nd-classes
Basically it should be class and function library that builds a framework of classes to make you faster buildung business applications. It should contain window and control classes, and some other needed objects.
This library should be built by the community, but distributed together with the compiler.
I have built the foundations, but then I was forced to suspend my work because I had to prepare for the electronic invoicing process that has been started here in Italy this year.
But now my plans are to restart with the work on it.

Hi Johan,
Sir you sitting in the middle of Wine country coming from a beer culture. No wonder you late with answering Matt....
yes, it is true, Im living in the middle of a wine country, and we have good beer too..... But unfortunately I need several hours of sleep to be able to master my programming days. And yes, on Tuesday I have my weekly Joga lession.
But sometimes I like also to hike with my dog - we have very beautyful mountains here, and I could start from home at about 300 mt and climb to mountains that are higher than 3.000 mt.

Was only joking. I do need to make a plan in the future, health permitting to come and see your countries Germany and Italy. The nice thing of George however, and I believe you were here on vacation before... I can do all that, except my Mountain only goes from 35m to 900m. But I am also only 15 min drive away from the ocean with long stretches of sandy beaches that are most of the year almost deserted.

I know we need our sleep, however when their is excitement in the forums, I can quote Tesla: Sleep is a waste of productive (support) time... :) So two nights straight chatting to our new family member (8 hour time difference) in bed by 03H00 and already on the go at 08H00. Damn speaking of which I am so into my PC, only had 1 coffee so far, damn I need to get breakfast, no way, it is already 13H00... Live is good!

Hi Johan,
I see it as Elon Musk: sleep is basically a waste of time (many see it as pleasure...). Butn unfortunately I need several hours of sleep to be productive on day, and if I have too less sleep for longer periods, my motivation goes down and I have serious problems.

I know, pulling your leg. Anyway are you aware Elon Musk is from South African origin? .... Must be something in the air here that we feel sleep is a waste of time... <VBG> Maybe time for a visit?
